Job Title: Fiber Design Technician
Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will support our Fiber Design team with required drawings and direction needed to complete projects.
REPORTS TO
• Network Design Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Prepare work products in accordance with established standards, including but not limited to:
o Cable Placement Drawings
o Splicing Drawings
2. Complete occasional outside work, including:
o Review of fiber path
o Review of installation issues
3. Create and store drawings electronically using company software.
4. Complete connectivity diagrams from the optical line termination (OLT) to customer Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) in company software.
5. Driving duties may include conveying materials, equipment, and staff to and from work sites.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Basic understanding of computers and Microsoft Office
• Ability to learn specific computer programs
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor
• Adept in written and verbal communication
• Ability to evaluate situations and adjust to changing priorities
• Analytical and spatial ability
QUALIFICATIONS
• Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to a Joink office (Currently within Illinois: Taylorville, Hillsboro; Indiana: Terre Haute)
• Experience with software used in network design (e.g. AutoCAD)
• Candidates which have the following will have priority:
o Experience in AutoCAD, 3-GIS, ArcGIS, ArMap, Google Earth, and other fiber software packages
o Associate degree in telecommunications or equivalent work experience
• Experience in fiber placement, splicing methods, and best practices
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• 40 hours per week
• Hybrid indoor outdoor environment, including outside year-round, in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to work overtime with and without notice or as required for emergency repairs
