Job Title: OSP Technician I IL
Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly
Pay Range: $18 – $21/hour
POSITION SUMMARY
The OSP Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure. This technician will work under close supervision, learning industry standards, safety protocols, and operational practices.
REPORTS TO SUPERVISES
• OSP Supervisor • May lead, train or participate in work team assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assist with locating utilities and following construction paths.
2. Operate basic hand tools and light machinery.
3. Support team with material transport/setup, maintain clean and safe work sites, and perform basic restoration work.
4. Driving duties include conveying materials, equipment, or staff to and from work sites and ability to meet necessary FMCSA requirements (includes passing the DOT physical).

• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor
• Ability to evaluate situations and adjust to changing priorities
• Ability to learn fiber optic construction practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to a Joink office (Currently within Illinois: Taylorville, Hillsboro; Indiana: Terre Haute)
• Clean driving record.
• Must be able to work overtime with and without notice.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• 40 hours per week with mandatory overtime on Fridays
• Voluntary Saturdays
• Must participate in on-call rotation
• Almost exclusively outside, year-round, in all weather conditions
• Must be able to work overtime with and without notice
• Must be willing to travel to other Joink regions 10-15% of the time to complete work when needed, with occasional overnight stays.
