ABOUT THE COMPANY

Joink, LLC was founded as an Internet Service Provider, providing dial-up, DSL and fixed wireless broadband Internet services.  Today, the company provides connectivity for customers who span the landscape from residential to enterprise using technologies that include leased lines, unlicensed wireless, licensed wireless, and fiber optics.  Also, the company provides managed hosting services including virtual machine, web/email, and offsite backup storage.  And finally, the Company’s technology services group leverages its enterprise knowledge of networking, software, storage, and telephony technologies to provide design, installation, and continued supported around key technologies from companies such as VMware, Cisco UCS, IBM, Veeam and Microsoft.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Wireless Field Technician helps to install and maintain the infrastructure supporting wireless communications systems. Wireless communications systems encompass wireless Internet access, satellite systems, and related equipment.

  • Customer Premise Installation Supervisor

SUPERVISES

  • No direct reports
  • May lead, train, or participate in work team assignments

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Perform new installation or disconnection of wireless internet service at customer location (ability to discern colors is required to read some equipment/discern data cable strand order).
  2. Carry out periodic work to maintain the wireless networks.
  3. Travel on site to customer location to troubleshoot, assist and resolve problems.
  4. Maintain inventory of necessary materials and tools for company vehicles.
  5. Recognize, practice, and ensure safety rules and procedures.
  6. Track time and keep detailed records of work performed through time entry.
  7. Keep company vehicle in clean, professional appearance.
  8. Driving duties include conveying materials, equipment, and staff to and from work sites and ability to meet necessary FMCSA requirements (includes passing the DOT physical).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Must be willing to learn new technologies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires travel to various locations and routinely uses a variety of equipment and tools relating to electronics, digital radio technology, cellular systems, wireless, and fiber.

Generally, working hours are from 8AM—5PM Monday through Friday. However, applicants must be willing and able to:

  • Must be able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
  • Predominately outside, year-round

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to Terre Haute, Indiana.
