Joink, LLC was founded as an Internet Service Provider, providing dial-up, DSL and fixed wireless broadband Internet services.  Today, the company provides connectivity for customers who span the landscape from residential to enterprise using technologies that include leased lines, unlicensed wireless, licensed wireless, and fiber optics.  Also, the company provides managed hosting services including virtual machine, web/email, and offsite backup storage.  And finally, the Company’s technology services group leverages its enterprise knowledge of networking, software, storage, and telephony technologies to provide design, installation, and continued supported around key technologies from companies such as VMware, Cisco UCS, IBM, Veeam and Microsoft.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician will create customized maps and GIS applications, compile and integrate new cartographic data, draw maps using design software, and manage the data that is entered into the GIS database.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Compile geographic information in the form of satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs
2. Research and verify geographic data
3. Enter new data into the GIS database
4. Create maps using ArcGIS software
5. Ensuring maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information
6. Compiling reports using all available GIS and GPS data sources
7. Maintain the GIS database and troubleshoot 3-GIS data issues
8. Travel to geographic sites to conduct GIS surveys and data collection
9. Perform QA/QC maintenance on GIS datasets
10. Driving duties include traveling to and from sites to conduct surveys and data collection

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Working knowledge of cartography and spatial components
• Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously
• Excellent listening and communications skills, both verbal and written
• Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to provide and maintain detailed documentation
• Willingness to develop professionally
• Analytical skills, including ability to research and solve problems
• Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
• Team player; reliable and dependable to complete assignments accurately and on time

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to understand reports, maps, drawings or other geographic data for analysis
• Understanding of Google maps/Google Earth, ESRI, and other mapping programs
• General computer skills – proficiency with MS Office, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Desktop preferred
• Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to Terre Haute, Indiana

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday, occasional overtime as deadlines require
• Less than 10% overnight travel
• Will be on-call on a pre-arranged basis to support the platform if necessary.
