Job Title: GIS Administrator

Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Joink, LLC was founded as an Internet Service Provider, providing dial-up, DSL and fixed wireless broadband Internet services.  Today, the company provides connectivity for customers who span the landscape from residential to enterprise using technologies that include leased lines, unlicensed wireless, licensed wireless, and fiber optics.  Also, the company provides managed hosting services including virtual machine, web/email, and offsite backup storage.  And finally, the Company’s technology services group leverages its enterprise knowledge of networking, software, storage, and telephony technologies to provide design, installation, and continued supported around key technologies from companies such as VMware, Cisco UCS, IBM, Veeam and Microsoft.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator will be responsible for the development and maintenance of complex, enterprise-level ESRI programs and datasets. They will act as the technical lead of the enterprise GIS environment, including administration of all GIS server, portal, geodatabase, and desktop applications.

  1. Act as technical lead of enterprise GIS environment, including administration of:
    • Portal
    • Geodatabase
    • Desktop Applications
  2. Design, implementation, and conversion/processing of GIS data to meet project needs
  3. Ensure software and hardware are up to date using cost-effective strategies
  4. Maintain GIS applications, systems, and workflows
  5. Manage GIS architecture and implement upgrades and improvements to enhance overall platform
  6. Conceptualize and deliver solutions that streamline processes with a drive toward integration and automation
  7. Research and promote new and upcoming geospatial technology to facilitate needs of Joink
  8. Performing data extraction and cleaning to convert data into its desired form for expected usage


  • Working knowledge of spatial database structures and design
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues through research and analysis
  • Excellent listening and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to meet design requirements.
  • Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to provide and maintain detailed documentation
  • Willingness to develop professionally
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
  • Team player; reliable and dependable to complete assignments accurately and on time


  • Ability to understand reports, maps, drawings or other geographic data-
  • Understanding of Google maps/Google Earth, ESRI Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online
  • General computer skills – proficiency with MS Office, Google Earth, and Adobe Pro
  • Experience with ESRI Products and data structures
  • Experience with SQL and Python/Java preferred
  • Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to Terre Haute, Indiana


  • 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday, occasional overtime as deadlines require
  • Less than 10% overnight travel
  • Will be on-call on a pre-arranged basis to support the platform if necessary.
