August 16, 2006, will mark the 20 year anniversary of my flight with the
Indiana Air Guard in the fabulous F-4 Phantom. What a surprise to hear from
Merv Crowder, who organized this years ago. His idea to re-create the event on
the web for those not involved in jet modeling at that time sounded like a
great idea. Paging through the site brings back many good memories and a
realization of just how lucky I was.
Fighter pilots usually look back at their time in these fantastic aircraft as really no big deal. However, the fortunate few that have actually had the rare privilege to fly with them will never forget the experience. I have since lost touch with Lt. Col. Wayne Yarolem, but what a professional in every way. People like him are definitely a cut above the rest. Great job on the website Merv, and let's talk more often. Also, thanks again to the Indiana Air Guard, for it truly was the "Ride of a Lifetime". Tom Cook |
