ABOUT THE COMPANY

Joink, LLC was founded as an Internet Service Provider, providing dial-up, DSL and fixed wireless broadband Internet services. Today, the company provides connectivity for customers who span the landscape from residential to enterprise using technologies that include leased lines, unlicensed wireless, licensed wireless, and fiber optics. Also, the company provides managed hosting services including virtual machine, web/email, and offsite backup storage. And finally, the Company’s technology services group leverages its enterprise knowledge of networking, software, storage, and telephony technologies to provide design, installation, and continued supported around key technologies from companies such as VMware, Cisco UCS, IBM, Veeam and Microsoft.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This associate will work alongside the splicing technician to build an infrastructure capable of servicing our customers through fiber optics to the premise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs detailed visual inspections of OSP construction to determine quality of work being performed and that it meets company standards
  2. Physical cable placement, including setting loops, blowing cable, setup of trailers/reels
  3. Setup job site for splicing or cable placement, including setup of signs and cones
  4. Participate in inventory audits/maintenance of supplies
  5. Obtains flagger certification, to be used in the event we need to flag around a cable placement operation
  6. Maintains all OSP equipment (i.e. fusion splicer, trailers, vehicles)
  7. Observe and learn how to use cable placement and splicing equipment (as splicing is done color to color, the ability to distinguish matching fibers is required)
  8. Support splicing duties and observe how splicing is performed in accordance to Joink standards

Participates in preparation for splicing event – taking direction from splicing technician

  1. Driving duties include travel from worksite to worksite, hauling necessary equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information
  • Keeps a calm and cool head in sometimes stressful situations

QUALIFICATIONS

Key qualifications required to fill this position are:

  • Relevant outside construction or experience preferred
  • Ability to work after hours or on weekends as required for callouts, emergency locates, or emergency repairs
  • Able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
  • Able to be on call after normal hours on a rotational basis
  • Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to Terre Haute, Indiana.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Monday – Thursday, 40 hour per week schedule with overnights
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying 100 pounds
  • Almost exclusively outside, year round, in all weather conditions
  • Ideal conditions will be 25 degrees Fahrenheit and above. Work will likely be reduced to emergency repairs when temperatures fall below that threshold.
